Thanks Brian, it helps when you have a supportive wife. this was my anniversary present from her today, another reference book to help me out on the perilous journey of SS headgear. thanks for the F-B moniker but i don't possess even 1% of the knowledge he has on the subject.

    Cheers, Al

    Aldo,
As you have a lot a TK and eagle sets, have you ever thought to put an aluminium set on this wonderful visor
For me, a zinc set could be better for a later one (after 1940 confection...)
    Just a suggestion

Yes of course you are correct. Unfortunately I just sold the perfect matching set to fund another project. I have to see exactly what I have that would be appropriate. I will update the thread if I make the changes.

Thanks, I was very lucky to score this cap at time when the prices were still fairly reasonable. I've decided not to attempt to change the insignia for fear of causing damage. The sweatband seems resistant to being gently turned up to access the TK. Underneath the sweatband the orange sponge forehead pad seems really dry and susceptible to crumbling if exposed. Additionally the eagle prongs do not pierce the lining as they often do in replacement insignia. Also as timing would have it i just sold the perfect aluminum set off and traded another alu eagle for a cupal so I'm going to leave well enough alone.
    Regards, Al
