Today, I had the chance to photograph the interior of the M1916 Saxon field gray, w/ custom pasteboard box (in Saxon green), and 1916 Saxon newspaper in the bottom of the box. Note the watered silk pattern is identical to the Bav. Chev. Officer, pre 1914. The Bavarian is silver stamped “ Zimmerman, Munich.” The M1916 Saxon, unmarked.
The M 1916 Saxon is the same dimension as the Bav. Chev. Officer, with the identical watered silk pattern. I have a third marked Zimmerman, with identical watered silk pattern, as well. I have seen only four WWI Zimmerman’s since I started collecting.

Interesting that it came with a cammo band as these caps were for walking out dress only originally...looks like the owner may have had different ideas !
AS EVER WITH CTF...only the best will do !
cheers
