    Hi everyone,

Just unboxed my new Feldmutze or Krätzchen. It's a Sakson one. I believe it is from a Jager regiment with it's green piping.

I hope you like it. There were no visible stampings inside only a faint shadow. I believe this is a 1917 model but I could be wrong. The state kokardes were re-attached.

    Nice cap.

Yours is m/1917 "Einheitsfeldmütze" or universal infantry. Krätzchen's Red infantry piping color changed to dull green (Russian green) in 1917 for all weapon branches.

It isn't Jaeger Krätzchen. Because yours is clearly steel?-grey, literature says field-gray.
All Jaeger cloth color (tunics, trousers, caps) is green-grey. And piping color is dark-green

This is my JB.27 jaeger cap for color comparison

    Wow,

Very clear green. Very nice. Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure; so now that this is clarified I'm happy. It fits now with my Saksen M16 grey coat from the XII Army; 102 Saksen Infanterie Regiment. I'll try to build it up to completion.

Putting a Sakson 1916/1917 uniform together. Here is the current state. I need to replace the Brotbeutel-strap (Now it's a Luftwaffe WW2 strap) with an original WW1 strap. I got the Belt with buckle (with leather tap dated 1916) and the ammopouches dated 1914 and 1917. The 1917 gasmask was already in my collection. The relic training handgranate I got on a flea market near Verdun. I hope you like it.

Now it's time for the back side. Canteen and sawback bayonet. I have to save up a little. Just bought a Ersatz Baden felt Pickelhaube in France. I had to sell my kidney for that one. When it arrives I'll put it on the forum.

    Cheers Paul

    Don't forget greatcoat shoulderboards!

Also small tip. You can puff up greatcoat armless sleeves with buble wrap, or even with round-taped cone newspaper. It looks better.
