Want to show You this Austrian-Hungarian "Kampfmesser Modell 1917", (K.u.k. fighting knife 1917 pattern), also called, "Sturmmesser", ("storm-knife" / otherwise, "assault-knife").

Can someone measure the thickness of the blade stock please and post it. Can seem to find anything regarding specs of the Sturmmesser 1917 except OAL and Blade length and those seem to vary. For instance I see the Blade length from 8" to 8.5".

The dimensions of the Austro-Hungarian combat knife M1917 differ significantly depending on the manufacturer.
The design of the blades can also vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.

However, there are clear differences in the sheaths.
These differ in several variants for holding the straps as well as in the design of the sheath body.

There is an M17 "Sturmmesser" from the manufacturer Wiener Waffenfabrik, (blade lenght: 8,307") :

Hello, I must say, your collection of Austrian M17 trench knives is truly stunning and impressive!
I would greatly appreciate your assistance in identifying my knife / see below.
I am unsure if it is an original piece or a replica. Thank you for any clarification.

Any maker marking?, similar proofs on blade are not typical but could be occured, normally the acceptance was on crosspiece, You should compare the stamp with identical on M95 bayonets, the AU eagle looks normal, but the details of blade should be compared with other piece, thickness of tang etc.. better pictures of blade wout flash on neutral background should be made, the scabbard from the riveting of hanger clip could be a replica.So i would be carefull with this piece.

I would personally not buy this StM17 as the eagle doesnt look proper for imperial period. As mentioned is allways good compare it with different on StM17 or M95 bayonets of same period.
