I think that in post #19, Tom ment that two pommel types of Alcoso would fit the dagger of Jamie. One is the type that Ger showed in post #16. The other is the type in post #15. I agree with this. However, I would prefer the pommel in post #16 because of the second Alcoso makermark on the blade which indicates an early production piece. To be clear, a generic pommel does not fit an Alcoso dagger.

I had a read back and you are right about the choice of pommel.
However, unless a supergood, supercheap one turns up I'll just wait until the next time I buy one. 👍👍

I agree either pommel would be correct. I own two Alcoso Type-3 fitted daggers with the same maker mark as the dagger Jamie posted one has a early type pommel and one has the later type. It seems Alcoso used this maker mark for a good period of time through their production. I agree you can select the better variation pommel based on the base materials of the crossguard - blade tang etc. Having said that I do not condone swapping parts on daggers never have done it and never will - the key is buying good examples that need no excuses.
