FS Knife markings

Article about: Hi I spotted this FS knife and tried to take a picture of the markings but it was difficult. Does anyone recognize it and is it a wartime knife? I can read ; Wilkinson NO???? Sheffield Engla

The majority of 3rd pattern FS knives do not have the triangle shape on the blade.
The triangle shape would indicate a hand ground blade. Late in the war, they switched to
a slightly thinner machine ground blade in an effort to reduce manufacturing costs.

What leads us to say that this may be a post war knife, is the really prominent seam line in the grip and the very thin crossguard. There should also be a mold number cast into the grip.

Hear is a link to a great site for learing about FS kives.

I also wondered about the seam line. Most wartime production FS 3rd Pattern knives have the seam quite carefully ground away. Post-war production was left as moulded.
