    Default WW1 buttons

These buttons were attached to this 3 by 5 card that was in a trunk with an American WW1 helmet, leather holster, mess kit and drinking cup. There also was a German gas mask and a couple of german shoulder straps. I am wondering where the buttons might have come from. I am guessing they were a souvenir, like the gas mask and shoulder straps, but I have no idea what country they are even from. Thanks for any information.

You are correct. Thank you. Strange that these were with a group of WW1 items in a trunk in a basement of a house I was helping to restore in 1978, I think.
