Say hello to my great uncle Richard, who was missing in action on the Eastern Front at a later date. Obviously he was a Stahlhelm member who was forced (?) to join the SA. Can anyone tell me from the headgear / uniform when the photo might have been taken?
My family did not talk about the war after the war, so I have no information about him...
Many greetings from Germany!
Hans
I would date this photo taken at 1933-1934. Great uncle Richard holds rank of SA-Sturmmann.
Looking at his uniform, he is wearing first pattern shoulder board, what introduced in 1933. Collar piping was introduced at 1932 and on his cap, he wears first pattern national insignia, introduced 1931.
Also he was NSDAP party member, he wears party badge on his tie.
