Hi
This thread is a unique opportunity to show the day to day life in the Reichswehr from the point of view of the new recruit.
It gives us an insight into the attention to detail that makes an effective soldier and shows to good effect the uniforms and headgear of the time.
The photo album which I am publishing (in it's entireity) is a record from the training battalion of IR16 circa 1929.
It is an absolute gem for the military historian......a snap shot of the moment ........ it is a "story board" in its own right.
Setting the scene alongside the barracks, the first thing you see upon arrival............
Taking the Oath....
The Officers
"Home sweet home"
More Trainers........
Eating, the blackboard shows the allowance per man in grams !
Gathering on the parade ground for checking all is in order....
Weapons training
Keeping fit and keeping the barracks clean
Mg training and more fitness
Target practice
Passing out parade.....
The album owner very kindly wrote is name in the front, "Hienrich Hüber IR7" so maybe he was transferred later on ?
He also put his picture in the front.............dressed in what looks like a Spanish Uniform, but that is another research project!
cheers
Tony
