This is a real cap, but it is from the TR.
It is a late-late war Erel, tricked out to be Reichswehr IR17:

Apart from the fact that also veterinarians used this colour-what is wrong with that cap?

    Bavarian field cap:

This is not a questionable cap- it is a complete fake. I purchased it in an South german auction house as original- but due to the markings it was noticed in a german military forum as a fake. One menber-nickname "Grobi" used his reputation to spread these things over years...

    Default Questionable Reichmarine Feldgrau Cap

Hello - I posted this thread with accompanying photos on the cap identification thread -

    Suspect Reichsmarine Feldgrau Cap

Just wondering if anyone else could confirm my belief that this is probably a Stahlelmbund cap reworked

This just sold on Ebay. Stamps do not make sense--1917 stamp? lining is crudely resewn to the cap:

So, as always, got excited when I saw a Reichswehr piece for sale, but upon closer inspection. . . Questionable Weimar VisorsQuestionable Weimar VisorsQuestionable Weimar VisorsQuestionable Weimar Visors

At first I though it might be a chewed-up Einheitsschrmmuetze (which DID continue to be in use in the vorlaeufige Reichswehr). Or maybe my usual "culprit", a Stahlhelm piece.

But there isn't any difference between the cap material and that of the piping / cap band that either of these two would have. So, what? Artificially aged repro or old costume piece with good onsignia added?
