    Have no idea if this stuff is being faked (Lebensrune-sign).
    The M = Meldeamt and was a Dienststellenabzeichen;
    the rune was a Dienstzweigabzeichen.

    Do not know out-of-heart when they were introduced, but later as the "big bunch" of them for administration,
    courts, music. See here a part of an image from a 1936 RAD insignia-plate.

    See the difference for enlisted ranks (white) and officers (aluminum).

    All this stuff is in-depth described in the "Handbuch der Verwaltungdes Reichsarbeitsdienstes" from 1939.
    Practically all were abolished with an order from June 17, 1942 (Verordnungsblatt für den RAD)
    from July 2, 1942. Only docters were allowed to continue wearing their form. It is very intereresting
    to know this rune-patch also existed with a 3.0 mm wide edge in pink for chemists and for Amtswalter
    (functionaries) with a green edge.

    A Meldeamt is a recruiting office. Personnel assigned too such office did wear this patch with the M.

    The other is Arbeitsgauleitung I, so for those assigned to the command of Ostpreussen.

    Maybe of some interest: July 6, 1938 the various forms for the
    Lebensrune were announced (order VW 2.I. 7300-3391/38):

    Arzt (doctor) aluminum woven;
    Apotheker (chemist) aluminum woven with a pinkish-red 3.0 mm edge;
    Amtswalter (officials from the Gesundheitsdienst) aluminum woven with a green 3.0 mm edge;
    the ranks Unterfeldmeister (G), Obertruppführer (G) and Truppführer (G)
    did wear the rune in white cotton.
    All insignia were to be manufactured by the concern Günther & Windrath
    from Wuppertal-Unterbarmen.

    This insignia was known as a Dienstzweigabzeichen.

    Already with an order from August 16, 1938 for the rank Unterfeldmneister this
    was changed into aluminum woven instead of white cotton.

    It is obvious the various colors were later abolished. After mid-1942 (see also post 2)
    just doctors were allowed to wear the Lebensrune. Later lower ranked leaders from the
    health service (Gesundheitsdienst) were added.
