FAD Unit Help Please
I have a photo album from this particular unit and several projects they worked on. From the RAD identification guide posted by Gwar I am assuming XXVII Gau, Gruppe 273 Unit 2. I am confused, easily done BTW, about Berlingen and the symbol to the left. Is that some type of hand written RAD symbol? Is Berlingen just meaning the Berlin headquarters. It looks like the projects were in 1934 which does is also interesting. I could not find anything confirming this unit existed at this time. All thoughts and opinions are appreciated.
I can post the more interesting photos if there is any interest.

Great info Gwar, Thank you. I did not even notice the buckle. I cannot make out the two buckles in the first picture. Makes more sense now. I will try to correct the title of my thread to avoid future confusion. Thank you for the map. I could not find too much info on the web. An interesting part of the history just prior to Rad taking over Fad.

Overall a very nice acquisition !! Some history..
The German government of the Weimar Republic under Chancellor Heinrich Brüning by emergency decree had established the Freiwilliger Arbeitsdienst ('Voluntary Labour Service', FAD), on 5 June 1931, two years before the Nazi Party (NSDAP) ascended to national power.
The concept was adopted by Adolf Hitler, who upon the Nazi seizure of power in 1933 appointed Konstantin Hierl state secretary, on 11 July 1934, the NSAD was renamed Reichsarbeitsdienst or RAD with Hierl as its director. Überlingen is a German city on the northern shore of Lake Constance (Bodensee) near the border with Switzerland. After the city of Friedrichshafen, it is the second largest city in the Bodenseekreis (district), and a central point for the outlying communities. Since 1 January 1993, Überlingen has been categorized as a large district city (Große Kreisstadt).During the period of National Socialism (Third Reich), a sub-camp of the Dachau concentration camp, was established at the outskirts of Überlingen (KZ Aufkirch).
