Hi David
maybe my answer comes too quick, I still learn
But we can tell every new collector, if he sees a RLB made of steel, that it´s a 100% copy! BTW, nice buckles and great pictures, thanks!

Hello Max
I hope that you did not mind the correction, as this is really not my style of contribution within the forum. My concern was that a collector could have in their head the mantra of aluminium = original without any variation. As such, the chance that they could miss or sell as fake one of these very rare examples in this strange zinc type composite metal.
Steel however invariably means fake.
Great looking example and presumably by Aurich that was posted by Kurt.
Here is the metal in question illustrated by an SHD that I hold.
Regards,
David

Best,

No problem David! When I´m wrong, everyone can say this to me
That´s what makes this forum so awesome!

so what about this one? To me, in the only photos I was provided with, the buckle looks steel. The face is smooth while the oval disc is pebbled. It is painted the same color blue as some late-war Luftwaffe buckles.

Looks ok William but messed with, got any better pictures?
Ben
Is the front picture the same buckle as the rear pic? Is that rust on the front?
Ben
I must say I have learned a lot about buckles since I joined, thank you all.
William, the more I look to me the front looks like a fake with pics of an original rear?
Ben
