If I can add this bruised & battered one of mine along with a question please?
This was found in southern Ukraine some years back by an acquaintance of mine.
Why would a Reichwehr buckle wearer end up on the Sudfront? was old stock being used up for rear echelon men?
It is usually hard to see the details of buckles in period photos but I have seen a few from well into the war. I have also seen ground dug examples from major battles areas. I don’t know why they were still being used years after they should have been replaced

It wasn't until 1936 that the swastika appeared on the Wehrmacht's belt buckles.
However, there is contemporary photographic material which proves that some of the Reichswehr buckles were even carried on until the end of the war, i.e. they were used up. It is not yet known whether this has officially happened.
