Re: Wandervogel Bund deutscher Wanderer
Hallo Koppel71,
Thomas

Re: Wandervoegel Bund Deutscher Wanderer
Hello koppel71 and Thomas
I am and to be quite honest, totally out of my depth on this one. This is a very specialised subject by any definition.
Having said that, the box buckle is super.
I know that the Wandervoegel were a somewhat non materialistic and idealist group and at one period, became the pre eminent German youth movement. The organisation embraced a back to nature philosophy and emphasised freedom, self responsibility and the spirit of adventure.
Importantly though, the organisation took a nationalistic approach and stressed Germany's Teutonic roots and origins.
Perhaps this "arts and crafts" type roundel is quasi Teutonic or Runic and as such, fits in well with this organisation ?
Regards,
David

Re: Wandervoegel Bund Deutscher Wanderer
Almost lost for words, other than saying that I think we have here some very impressive and enigmatic buckles.
The only aspects that vaguely mean something (to myself at least), are the "free as a bird" emblems on the Wandervoegel Bund badge and the box buckle.
Does the box buckle still have an Imperial Army leather tongue ?
Regards,
David

The buckle with leather tag is very attractive.
Thanks.
Alex.

Alex
I agree - very attractive.
Perhaps koppel71 will show us details of what I think is an Imperial leather tongue ?

Re: Wandervogel Bund deutscher Wanderer
Das mit Vogel ist Hohmann & Sohn Kaiserslautern 1913
Das mit der Rune ist ein Abgesägtes Messingschloss ohne Hersteller
