I've lost count of the amount of Beetles and type 3s my Dad had when I was a kid, he bought me an old 6 volt Beetle for my 17th birthday. I sold it and bought a motorbike.by kradman
I know the feeling i had a VW82 also some years ago and sold it and wish now i had kept it ,

I would have grabbed it too but my future Type 82 is still a dream...
I would say it is TR related, simply because the circle surrounding the VW logo is that of the DAF and not the usual ordinary circle we see on cars today.
I looked up the history of the VW emblem and the one with the cogwheel is listed as 1939.

maybe factory guards a the VW, factory were issued them?
It was the factory fire crew/brigade.
That's what I thought. They used it on helmets too and I think they also used the decal on M35 types just as many other factories did with their own logos.
