Pre-1915 brass saxon buckle with state shield

Folks - i believe this is a quite rare piece from i reckon 1890-1910. Appears to be gray 'bluing' or remnants of shiny gray paint. No marks. Anyone know use and if it's special, real and unmolested? Many thanks!

The buckle in question is a 1935 model fireman's buckle. Probably made by Overhoff & Cie.
This style is 1935 to 45 the black anodized or black painted ones are very hard to find.
This type buckle would have been worn on a black leather belt.

No, it's for the Prussian province of Saxony as evidenced by the Prussian eagle on top of the Saxon badge. There's an article on Wikipedia that gives a lot of background info: Province of Saxony - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The style of the roundel is that used on the round Feuerwehr buckles and superseded in 1936 by the burnished standard police buckle.

Hi Vady, just got up, been on nights the lads have said what has to be said really, ref the maker from the prongs could well be a Overhoff made buckle, very similar to the early nickel SS ones
