This type of buckle is well-known and is often seen. I got my
first sample in about 1974/1975 or so.
Often it is said this buckle was in use before the end of WWII,
and it was in use by the German police and Landwehr (the last
is nonsense in my opinion).
I have not ever seen a pre-war cataloque stating this. But a lot
is possible. Maybe one day it is actually stated in a true good
buckle-book. It is known the German police in some districts did
use this buckle or a variation after the war had ended.
Of course it is not from the Weimar-period, as aluminum buckles
were then not in use. This type of buckle (Extra-Ausführung) NOT
ever should have a leather tab. Anyway not during the Third Reich-
period. The Assmann-concern never advertised with this type of
buckle, but with variations for Feuerwehr.
The buckle was quite common after the war and one of its
manufacturers was the Overhoff-concern. Here a part of a
price-list from after the war. They indicated the buckle to be
used by Reitervereine, clubs for horse-riding.
