So much for the golden front step of Gerrits house.
This sword is not even a " Time capsule " example...No ....Gerrit has a time machine and as seen with some of his recent ..." Bring Backs " posted through out this forum...this Sword was taken right out of the owners house while him and his wife went to the a Nuremburg Rally during the 1930s by Gerrit.
I have never seen such an exemplary example of fine craftmanship...this one is on the top of the list.
A word of warning my friend .... if you keep going back in time ...better be careful the Gestapo doesnt catch you.
Please dont plague us that you have a lucky front step.
Well Done my friend the dossier of the owner of this sword is the icing on the cake. Next time you go back and time...take some photos of you and the Fuhrer.
Regards Larry

Fabulous sword Ger without the history, outstanding sword with the historical provenance. I'm glad you agreed to post it on WRF, it deserves the recognition.

Thank you all Gents for the nice words.
I will update this post with more info and better pics.
This Deluxe Eickhorn is one of a kind with its floral enhanced fittings, even the Cypher on this grip has handwork on it.

Magnificent work of art Ger and a great tribute to a veteran who had seen it all , eventually getting promoted to command a Regiment and almost making it through to the end of the campaign . Well done on unearthing this gem and thanks for showing us , you have brought this memorial to life with it's history , which is very poignant with memorial day very near !

Thx Alan for the nice words!
Whats realy striking is the fact that i visit the Verdun and Argonne battlefields for at least 30 years or more, and comparing it with the sites that the Chronicals of the IR 144 & 135 show are exactly the ones that i visit.
Im sure i walked the same trenches that Veith walked in his days.
Making it a bit bizar that i came accross this beautiful damast sword.
Some say coincidence doesnt exist, if so then it had to be.
