Mixed fitting WKC Sword Question

Hey Gents...Im posting this for an associate of mine and was was curious of the fittings.

In the photos it shows a WKC Blade but the hilt is Eickhorn Model # 189. ( Non engraved )
Angolias reference does not show this in the WKC section ....so my thoughts a post war Attwood special as it does to have been together for a long time and curios of the Swordsmens thoughts on this.
These are the only photos as this sword is as plain as it gets and in the condition it is in...there isnt a high value.
Just posting for a discussion reasons.

WKC produced this "smooth" type as well. The hilt was not unique to Eickhorn and my late 1930's WKC catalogue shows a sword the same as this one. So I would say all WKC. The "Glatter Offizier-Einheitssabel"

Hi Peter thats what is confusing on page 74 in Angolias book the Hilt is identical to Eickhorn.
I am mistaken...the sword resembles more of the Eickhorn Model # 74 .

Show me your WKC photo and below is a pic from Angolias book of both models.
Take notice to the lower part of the D guard design

It's a strengthening feature at the "L" corner, but wasn't unique to Eickhorn. Both WKC and Alexander Coppel used it on some models, so probably not a patented design feature.

The drawing is not a photograph that is labeled in the WKC catalog as: "Glatter-Offizier-Einheitssäbel Nr.29/A" with the Einheitssäbel für Offiziere und Unteroffiziere mit Portepee a sword that was adopted during the Weimar era that was carried forward into the TR era. In other words IMO this is just a private purchase minor variation. Best Regards, Fred
