Nice pictures of the scabbard - Navy scabbards as is reflected on these pictures,were constructed of a leather shell which is sewn on the reverse side and reflects two parallel lines running the full length of the scabbard, these are to provide additional strength .The scabbard reflected brass fittings.This construction was found on both the Imperial navy sabers and III Reich sabers.

Tough call -possibly the original leather scabbard was damaged and the leather replaced with its original metal parts at some time - hard to say. Still a very nice saber.
