Article about: A family member recently offered to sell me a German WW2 era sword. I’ve had some trouble authenticating it as it has been hard to find exact examples like the sword I have. It is the lion

    So far, i've seen half a dozen of these sabres and all bore a different N° ....
    Could be a rack N° instead of a district ?
    Never saw these sabres in a period catalog or in official III°R litterature books .... Rare cats indeed !!!

    Interesting that numbers are all range between 61-44. That doesn't seem very many if these are accountability numbers. Perhaps Districts are more likely?

    Its sabre for DR higher beamte most real, the serial could be assigment nr. in that RBD.

    LST had N°78 too ...
    we haven't encountered two similar numbers so far... which would be logical IMO for districts numbers ....
    Would all different ones possibly tend towards rack numbers instead ?

    I tend to think that is a rack N° .... Did Reichbahn buy a certain amount of WKC1057 for parade / ceremony purposes ???
    Very confiential production not even listed in the "official" III°R littérature ..

    I agree if no two with the same number is found, it would suggest these are a rack/accountability number. With more research the answer may become clear.
