Hi Phil, what you have is an early kriegsmarine dagger by Alcoso. The maker mark on the blade is the first type that Alcoso used. The diamond shape on the back of the crossguard is typical for Alcoso. The scabbard is a very early style type, also used by Alcoso. You can find one with a similar scabbard here

The only thing that is not "textbook" is the pommel, which is a typical WKC product. Normally the navy daggers with this type of scabbard and early trademark are found with a socalled flaming ball pommel or early replacement pommel. There are many possible explanations for the fact that yours has a WKC pommel. It could have been done by the original owner but it is also possible that the pommel was replaced post war. We will never know.

Danny,
Thanks a lot for the reply. All good things to hear. I got it at a good price so I have nothing to complain about. This is only the 2nd dagger in my collection (2nd I've actually ever handled) so I'm glad to hear its authentic.
Thanks,
Phil
