I'm guessing, but I am pretty sure the Memmel is a fake.
It's obverse is the second last photo. The other two
are ok, IMO.........
Regards,
Steve.
I thoguth the Memmel was fake too, but I wanted to double check. Any opinion on the case?
The eagle on the case in the first pic looks unusual to me.
I'll see if I can find what I believe to be a good one
for comparison.........

There do appear to be a few differences. I guess it is safe to say it is a repro. At least two fo the medals are good. Thanks for the help.
I know there were just over 31,000 Memmel medals, so these are rare and can
be rather costly. Please wait for a few other comments.
I am going by my gut feeling but I believe all three medals should have
the exact same obverses ( or fronts ). It may be possible that there
were variations between makers, but I am unsure of this.
Is the suspect medal and suspect box case together as a set,
or have the medals been changed out - ie, has an original
annexation medal been put into the suspect box ?
Regards,
Steve.
I purchased the annexation of Austria medal with the box. The Memmel medal did not come with the box.
hi, i recall reading somewhere that if the facial features on the obverse figures are mask like it denotes a fake .there are some very good cased reproductions of these around . a uk repro dealer by the name of nicolas morigi had excellent cased copies in the late 80s , still see lots of his work/products about......pavel
I should have seen tha when I was handling it before I bought it, but thank you for the good tip!
I am with Steve on the Memel. Also I dont believe they came boxed
