Early SA-Sportabzeichen by L. CHR. LAUER - Gold or Bronze?

Hi all,

I am not very experienced into these items - so i hope to get a little help.

I have bought a small collection - and among the items were this SA Sports Badge made by L. CHR. LAUER. As i understand it is the early model.
I though can't figure out if it is the Bronze or worn Gold version. Help would be appreciated.

My guess is the bronze medal. I have one very similar with a serial number close to yours.

Here is one in gold just listed on this website. I think you need to take photo's in natural light to get a true representation of the finish

To be honest, I don't trust those "golden" Badges at all. Most of them seems to be bronze subsequently gilded. I think the Badge Al postet in his second Post is not originally a Golden one. Golden SA SBs are very rare and hard to find.

I think like that too. Goldens are numbered and what I understand, only accepted maker for gold badges are from Lauer

It is bronze and nice one.

On your badge easiest way is award number, it is too high. I don't know how many gold badge had been awarded, but at least those were approximately 1500.

Price range is something like 50-150€. You can try looking at a different dealer's website for a badge that is in the same condition as yours and estimate the price, as we do not give the value of the stuff
