'Festung Lorient' disc/'shield'

I thought this should have its own thread in the awards section, though I'm not sure if it even counts as an award; might it fall in the same bracket as the honour shields for Crimea, Demjansk etc.?

I know these are very easy to fake, but it has quite a bit of patina, and shows shadowing underneath where it is attached to the tunic. No markings discernible to the rear (as should be?). Sorry for the poor photos - best I can do when it's still stitched to the sleeve.

Intresting, Obviously made from a blank german I.d. tag. The official/ unofficial Lorient shield was also a some what low quality home made affair & as you say it's been on the tunic for a while so who knows ,veteran made? Regards Paul
