    Hello,

"Same old question", fake or real?

Flugzeugführerabzeichen, which I have bought some 15 years ago. Unmarked badge. I thought this MIGHT be unmarked FLL? At least it looks like FLL more or less...

    Weight: 41 gr
    Tombak (I guess)
    Needle is non-magnetic

    Opinions are very welcome!

    Regards,
    Antti

I agree a very nice early FLL ( type 2a in Sebastien's book ) nickel silver / tombak Flugzeugführerabzeichen . Even the wreath looks like it may be nickel silver as I can't see any wear to show any tombak . Congratulations on that 15 year old purchase ( investment ) . Thanks for showing .

Well I guess it would have been too late to return it if it turned out to be a fake

A very nice looking example btw. Congrats 15 years late
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

    Many thanks guys,

As I said, I bought this badge some 15 years ago from one Finnish auction house. That auction house has been operating several decades, but specializes in gold, coins, jewelry etc. Since then, I've found/heard that they sometimes sell German copy badges. And since I haven’t found a similar badge anywhere, I became suspicious...

So, at least I have made on good deal in my "collector's career", ´cause this badge cost under 300 euros.
