I had never seen that kind of manufacturer's mark for Richard Simm ... in my opinion, is fake, based on that and grip...

Done some checking & it's all legit. Just an extreme overkill on the catch soldering. Nothing to fret about IMO. Stewy

    Hey Dan,

Have seen the RS&S quite a bit. I think I typed the wrong maker as it is Richard Sieper & Sohne. It is my belief it may just be the late war marked by "RS&S" versus RSS - Richard Simm Sohn. Did some digging on list of the makers & found:

    • G.H. Osang
    • Dresden
    • R.S.& S.
    • R.S.S.
    • R.K.
    • F & B.L.
    • BSW (within a cloverleaf)
    • M. Kunststoff
    Etc.....

My feeling is mine is a late war variation with different clasp based on some I have seen. Happy 4th. Hope all is well in Bama!

Hi Dan, it is an accepted variant. That's from Tom Durante, some folks always have reservations about this type. But late on in the war, I guess anything was viable. Stewy
