Gebirgesjäger Badge - Period or not ?

Hello Gentlemen,
Today I've seen this Gebirgesjäger Badge in a local junk shop. Its an item I've not come across before, does anyone know if, it is of the period, and its purpose - a commemoration badge produced for regiment members perhaps? Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Alec, I feel it is most likely good.

Many different GJ Regts produced souvenir items during the war and it seems to have been a popular practise. I have seen various types of these over the years. Not faked to any great extent as far as I know?

Thanks Gentlemen for the posts. Ade, I too saw the link - $450 is OTT by miles, did you view the prices of the other pieces, on the page everything marked up, way, way over any realistic valuation, bears no relation to currant prices.
