My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

@map and @norm - thanks again for info.
Really impressed by your knowledge in this area.
I'm interested in WW2 badges + medals so any books you can recommend will help me learn more - you're right in that it helps to research what you're buying.
I have an M42 Heer helmet, but this was easier to research and spot if it was a fake than the badges - i'll post some pictures of it in a new thread and you can give your opinions.
I'd love to get some more helmets but they are quite expensive!
I'd also like to get an iron cross (Eisernes Kreuz?) - i'm taking some more time to research these before making any decisions though.

Well I don't think Norm is for sale....LoL.
Quality reference books are not cheap. In some cases as much as the award itself. Authors don't get rich, it's a labor of love. Most quality reference books focus on single items. But there are a few that cover multiple items.
For example I use the Weber / Skora two volume set called "The Kriegsmarine Awards". You can find it on either Bender Publishing or B&D Publishing. There might be other books out there that I am not aware of. The Weber book (or any book) is very good but not perfect, Since it's publishing there has been more work done classifying these awards, so you should always post something here.

Thanks for the info - i checked out the book you mentioned and it is a bit pricey, but then again it's a pretty specialist subject.
Tonight i've also been reading through the forum on German helmets - you can really learn a lot from the other people on here.
And as soon as i can i will take some photos of my M42 Heer helmet and post in the relevant thread - be interested to see what others think.
