    Hello friends.

I have a question about this Badge. I studied this Badge and I think that the Badge is original. However, I'd like to get expert opinions. And a question about the dark spot of corrosion. As you can see in the photo with the hook, no repairs have been made, however, the gold plating has been lost. Why?

    Thank you.

I know little about these badges because they don't crop up very often but from the photos, it looks like an original 3rd pattern Juncker in excellent condition with short barrel hinge and round wire catch. Zinc based and with what looks like correct brass rivets.
I have no idea about the brown patch, just one of those things. Could be anything from a drip of liquid not properly cleaned off that has manifested itself like this over time, a reaction to the heat from the catch plate being attached that has leached through the finish or just the zinc base affecting the finish in that area, on the reverse there are a few brown areas so it's not limited to that one spot.

Happy to be corrected on originality if another member can see anything I cant.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Thanks for this thread. I have a sad experience. I will tell. Those who have zinc badges with gold-plated surfaces should be know. I had the first Fallschirmjäger abzeichen Osang model. Some stupid person tried to solder the base of the needle. I bought this badge, and the needle ended up in my hands. There was no reason to leave the ruins with this badge. I got the badge to a jeweler for repairs. The needle was soldered very high quality. BUT! Maybe the jeweler wanted to get more money from me, or just the stupidity of a person. The jeweler pulled out the eagle (he said that the eagle itself fell out of the rivets - but this is a lie), and sent it to the special machine to be covered with gold. I received a photo of the badge when the jeweler assembled it. I was horrified. The eagle melted, lost its shape and became smaller than it should be. see photo. I say this in order to cover zinc with gold, this is a special technology. Therefore, the badge from the thread that you gave, the hook was not replaced, or it was repaired by a highly qualified specialist, but then the repair of the crack was done by someone who does not know how to work with zinc. Look at the photo of the difference of my badge, before and after the jeweler.

That's terrible! I hope you didn't have to pay for it! Even the makers mark is nearly obliterated.

Thank You for answer. I'm glad you said that, I also think liquid is possible. My doubts are gone.

And one moment. I just understood that my membership has ended. I tried to pay with Paypal. But I haven't used my Paypal for a long time. I don't remember the password, but to recover the password, the site has a new idiotic password recovery system, I can't do it. Please understand, I'm not cheating, If I can buy a €3,500 badge, it's not hard for me to pay $25 for a club membership. My Paypal is not working. I will try to recover as soon as possible. And I will pay money.

    Sorry.

    With Regards

Yes. This badge, death forever. I got compensation from company, but if I want to have the money in my pocket, I'd never bought this badge. I had white colour of my skin, and red colour my eyes.

I would be furious if that happened to a badge of mine.

Today I read here how a man bought a Paratrooper badge and got it polished. I remembered how my badge was destroyed. I didn't ask for the eagle to be covered in gold. I asked to solder the needle., only I was furious. Where is my badge now, I don't know. I didn't take that badge. I took the money.
