I'm relatively new to the hobby so I appreciate any help you can provide. Currently I'm considering the purchase of a police bayonet but a few things have me concerned. There is no unit id stamped on the cross guard and I haven't ever seen this manufactures name on the frog (Schweyer) before. Hello Warden...any possibility of gettting a fewmore photos show both side full length of the blade and both sides of the grip?
Also photos of a scabbard as well. Please

I had to squint hard to see the producer name of Ewald Cleff.
Some of these police bayos do not have unit markings so do and some do not. Its common.

The Bayo Gents will be along as well to comment further in deeper detail. The more photos you have the more the community can help you.

There is nice service frog here, is possible the bayonet is a typical shortage with shortened blade and new pommel, by this sometimes were not stamped the unit stamp, same as the piece could be used as a dress one. Looks like Munchen location probably.

    Hello,

    A. Schweyer München is a well-known manufacturer of police frogs. Is original. Do not worry.

The brown leather color means Gendamerie (southern German areas) or Landjägerei (northern German areas)... its like state police.
The leather of the bayonet scabbard must be the same color, i.e. brown. Then they match. If she's black, it's the police and doesn't belong together.

Here is a frog with the identification of the Gendarmerie (Gend.) from 1937.
