    This is my newest addition to my collection and I’m currently doing research on it. The card belonged to a Jaques Gilloir. The pass permitted him to enter a German office/building. Considering he was French he was likely working for a German officer, etc. Not much else is known unfortunately.

    Things like this are so interesting for a couple of GOOD reasons.

    1) hardly likely to be faked, they are a neat window into history
    2) helps us to use our imagination and helps us exercise our hippocampus!!!

    An interesting item, a quick look at Feldpostnummer 14431 gives you the following assignments:

    This number was used by;
    (Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) 1. Batterie Artillerie-Regiment 2

    (2.1.1940-27.4.1940) gestrichen, wurde Fp.Nr. 02826 B

    (12.7.1941-26.1.1942) Hafen-Überwachungs-Stelle Cherson, u. gestrichen

    (25.1.1943-31.7.1943) Marine-Verpflegungs-Nachschub-Lager AtlantikKüste. So likely in an administrative role within supplies.

    Found on Ancestry, the age may tie in with the photograph on the ausweis.

    Gender: Male
    Death Age: 74
    Birth Date: 1 Mar 1924
    Birth Place: Bourgueil, Indre-et-Loire

    Yep that’s him! I just had the ID translated and it states on there that his place of residence was at Bourgueil. So it’s definitely the same person. The ID card also states his position was an assistant cook. The pass allowed him to enter the premises during work hours. It also says he has to show the pass on demand. So he was possibly the cook for a high ranking German officer.
