Gefahndet wird nach Johann Smudek, der am 20. März in Taus einen Mordversuch an einem Mitgliede der Polizei beging und sich an einem unbe = kannten Orte verbirgt.

Nach dem Ergebnis der bisherigen Untersuchungen hat der genannte ausser = dem 23. März 1940 Mord an zwei deutschen finanzhilfsganen in Pirk begangen.

Johann Smudek ist 23 Jahre alt, nach Budweis zuständig wohnhaft zuletzt in Taus, Machagasse 138, ledig, student der Gewerbeschule in Kladno. Er ist ca. 184 cm gross, breitschultrig, hat hervorstehende Backenknochen lichtbraune Haare mit Scheitel auf der linken Seite; er ist stark kurzsichtig; über der linker Wange hat er eine wagerechte Spur von einem Starken Kratzer. Er trägt jetzt einen mausgrauen Anzug mit langen Hosen und vielleicht auch einen dunklen Flauschmantel (fog. Hubertusmantel) und einen weichen hut der gleichen Farbe.

Zuletzt wurde er am 25. März 1940 in Tschernikau im politischen Bezirk Taus gesehen.

Die gesamte Bevölkerung wird dringend aufgefordert. den Sicherheitsorganen in jeder Weise bei der Ausforschung des Berbrechers behilflich zu sein.

Jedermann ist verpflichtet, fogleich dem nächsten Gendarmerieposten oder der nächsten Regierungs Polizeibehörde jeden Umstand bekannt zu geben, der zur Ausforschung und Berhaftung des Genannten beitragen kann.

Wer dem Genannten Unterschlupf oder sonstige hilfe gewährt, oder Angeban verschweigt, die zu seiner Ausforschung dienen könnten, mach sich des Berbrechens der Begünstigung schuldig und wird nach dem Gesetze auf das strengste bestraft werden.

Ich mach aufmerksam dass die Stadt Taus eine Belohnung von 20.000 K für jedermann ausgesetzt hat, der die Sicherheitsorgane auf die Spur des Täters bringt.

Vorsicht! Der Täter ist ein rücksichtsloser und gewalttätiger Mensch, der gegen jedermann sosort von der Schusswaffer Gebrauch macht.

Interestingly I found some information on a gentlemen I believe may well be the same man on the wanted poster. I’m not 100% sure (I’ve seen him named as Johann and Jan), but thought I’d post it for you to have a look at and see what you think.

Jan Smudek (8 September 1915 – 17 November 1999) was a Czech resistance fighter and soldier nicknamed "The Elusive Jan".
