    Hello guys ,
In 2020 my family received this death notice / death card of my great uncle.
Until then he was considered missing in/near Stalingrad.
In fact, he was only in 1943 as a corporal in the Sturm Division News Department 178.
Fallen 10 km in the radius of Воронич (W) Boronitsch), a town with 45 inhabitants (today)

His wife never found out about this; she died in 1992

    Hello Kabl.

    Very sad indeed.

Here is his Volksbund entry -

    Name: Heinrich Hunte
    Date of birth: 16.01.1910
    Place of birth: Böbber
    Death/missing date: 15.09.1943
    Death/missing place: 2km westl. Byki-Baltutino 2/8 km ostw.
    Service rank: Obergefreiter

He was killed by shrapnel to the head.

Heinrich Hunte is buried in the military cemetery in Duchowschtschina (Russland)

During the re-interment activities in his original burial location, it was not possible to identify him without any trace of doubt, so he has been buried as an "unknown soldier" in the cemetery Duchowschtschina.

Endgrablage: Block 6 - Unter den Unbekannten.

    Kind regards,

    Will.

    Hello,
It took so long because Russia opened the archives very late...
Until 2020 he was considered missing (from the German side) because the regimental/division papers were in Russian “captivity”.
