Are you kidding me, Dwight ? Damn, wasn't expecting that, and hoped for more infos about it...
BTW, if someone could give us some precisions about the Luftgau in question, that would be great. If by chance the ink stamp on the 1st page can give clues about it, of course.

First time for me either. Maybe someone had it made to replace the original damaged cover?

I don't think so, as the cover's spine only displays the second name of the author and shows a number that matches the book's inventory number in the ink stamp.

Library? The ink stamp could have been added later. Don't know. Just guessing...

From what I learned of the LW organisation, the Luftgaue (aerial districts) were supposed to provide administrative and logistic support to the airfields. I guess that installing a library (Bücherei) could have been one of their tasks.
Later ? Well, I guess that such a book wouldn't fit well in the library of a Luftwaffe airfield after war.

Another detail against the possibility of a damaged cover replacement : the ink stamp left a visible mark on the opposite greyish-green "page" before it dried, and this - thicker - piece of paper is an integral part of the whole cover.
