Antiqua was forbidden 1941 by law. But the different printing houses had book covers in Fractur and often book blocks in Fractur left and used the available stock.
So, they kept binding together what they had. You can see issues with
- cover, dust jacket and book block in Fracture
- often mixed cover, dust jacket in Fracture and book block in Antiqua
- rare is both in Antiqua, you see it in the late years of war
Wasn't the Fraktur font type that was banned from use in 1941 (because it had "Judenletter" - Jewish letters) according to Bormann's circular dated January 3rd, 1941?
On this circular he stated that Fraktur had Jewish letters and prohibited it's further use. The Antiqua [Roman] type was designated as the standard typeface.
