If anyone has any information regarding the book or the people who wrote their names in it, it would be very much appreciated. I have searched their names hoping to find out which units they belonged to, but to no avail. I am thinking the book is 1942-1944, but very unsure. No idea as to its value. Are these common? If these guys could be identified it seems like the book might belong in some outfits archives or museum. Thanks for any help!

Wilson; You have a 1943 edition of the Volksausgabe (People's Edition). The publication date should be on the title page or the publisher's page. I didn't see it on any of the photos you posted, but it's in there somewhere. The year your copy was published was determined by the total number of editions published at the time of printing, 9,890,000. Your copy was one of the last copies printed, the last one came off the press in 1944, bringing the Grand Total to 10,900,000. The People's edition is two volumes in one, Hitler's first volume, Eine Abrechnung, (A settlement) published in 1925 and the second volume, Die nationalsozialistische Bewegung (The National Socialist Movement) published in 1927. I can't help you with the American GIs who signed the book. I hope this is helpful. Dwight

It's a very interesting item. I regret that I can't help with the signatures - except say that they are very likely to be American ( at the time it was fairly unusual for British servicemen to use the middle initial in a signature ).
