I'm not exactly sure what type of party gathering this is, but I was struck by the unusual eagle hanging over the stage. It looks like an eagle standing on a sword. Has anybody seen that before?

Yes, I have seen that type of eagle before. It is the symbol for one of the Veteran Organizations, but I can't remember which one, I will search my files and let you know. I believe it is NSKOV.
But, I might be wrong!

Hey, I found it in the 1941 NSDAP Org. book! This was the symbol for the NS-Rechtswahrerbund. The National Socialist Legal Guardians Association (NSRB) which was the professional organization of lawyers in the National Socialist German Reich from 1936 to 1945 based in Berlin. The organization emerged from the Bund Nationalsozialistischer Deutscher Juristen (BNSDJ),which existed under this name from 1928 to 1936. I bet THAT was an interesting Conference!
Cool Pic.
As you can see, the Eagle is the same as the one you show except for the Scales, which they didn't add I guess because they were just too much to put on at that giant a construction.

SAmann, thank you for solving my little mystery!
Very interesting photo.
The scales are there, just higher up in the photo than in the line drawing.

Hi Adrian, I went back and blew up the photo and Now I can see the scales! I thought it really strange to make an emblem that HUGE and leave something out! Thanks for the sharp eye!
