Article about: That depends really Dagon, i can read the printed words on the death cards but actual handwritting can be a totally different matter, it can be quite difficult sometimes but i could try

    From other losses listed it appears the 5./SS-Totenkopf-Infanterie-Regiment 1 were committed to action at Wasiljewstschina from 1st to 8th September 1941. I had wondered whether Willi had been an isolated casualty or one of several. There was not any others from the 5 Kompanie on 5th September. Although the heroes death of a shot to the head seems common.

    When I see the classic ‘quick death’, it always makes me wonder what ‘actually happened’ to the soldier.

    Here are Heinrichs cards from Ancestry, by using a simple search you can find other casualties from the same engagement based upon date and location details, although not all records use common data.

    Wilhelm Mündy - Panzerjäger, fighting with Infanterie Regiment 517 of the 295th Infantrie Division.

    10th of August 1942 he was killed in action in Tschirkow, Russia.
    - Gefallen I.G.K (Infanterie Geschoß Kopf) = Infantry shot to the head.

    These are part of a Wehrpass group I’ll get around to posting at some point.
