If you don't own a copy I highly recommend "Desert War Then & Now" by Jean Paul Pallud;
Which does include am account of the battle in which Ludwig perished, the desert Air Force caught alot of enemy vehicles out in the "open" desert after a sandstorm had assisted Rommels advance. The results were several hundred vehicles destroyed and many casualties.
