Australian Canteens and Mess Kits

Article about: Hello all, Here are a nice matching pair of Australian Army (Pattern 37 I believe) Mess Tins I have found recently. Very well made items by S.M.P in June 1968. The small tin measures approx.

Not rude at all mate. Perhaps mods could change the post name to Australian Canteens and Mess Kits?

How do you know it was US made? Is it the colour?

    Cheers
Thanks Chris, yep it's the colour

Good idea for name change christek!
Rene, the later Aussie bottles from the 1990's looked like that lid colour?

Generally the mess tins weren't used much by us troops in the Reserve in the 70s/80s-if you had 3 cups canteen f/s handle (one for cooking, one drinking and one shaving) the dixies were just extra rattley weight if you were 'snailing' it!
