Hi all. I have come across this dog tag chained to a bronze Vietnam Gallantry Cross. Is there any resource for researching the individual who owned the dog tag and verify service in Vietnam? I believe that everyone who served was eligible for the cross. It appears that these have been together for quite some time (the seller certainly didn't know anything about them) so would be interested for any information. Thanks in advance.

    The details are:

    Cecil, D. E.
    997 79 55 USN
    PROT O

Thats a good link. Thanks very much. Looks like this type of service number was used from WW2 through Korea to Vietnam so that's a good start

Nice Vietnam Gallantry Cross. Lots of fake SVN awards out there right now. This is a good reference photo showing the concave back.
