Nice Dagger, Gruppe Hessen.
Very nice dagger. Thanks for showing.
Nice dagger.
Could it be the scabbard is SS?
-TJ-
I guess not because the dagger fits perfect into the scabbard. If it would be a SS scabbard it might be not.
Hi Kasper
I see no issues with having anodized black scabbard and to answer TJ ...yes it is an SS scabbard ...which would of been purchased through an outlet when the NSKK man had the option to either painting the scabbard on his own or purchase a painted scabbard.
As we have seen the use of early fittings on mid period daggers it is IMO that there were also left over anodized black scabbards when the 1936 order came down to transition scabbards from brown to black.
I also have an August Merten NSKK with a faded anodized scabbard > August Merten Early SA / NSKK / w Vertical Hanger
Its not often that we see NSKK daggers with Anodized scabbards...but they are out there.
You have a nice example.

Hi Larry,
thank you very much for your post. I didn`t know that but now it makes much more sense with the vertical SS hanger. Perhaps the NSKK man has purchased the scabbard and the vertical hanger at the same time. Who knows? Anyway, I´m very happy to have this very nice example of history.
