    That was my interpretation of the artwork too, with its images of peace, such as the doves.

    With regard to the ‘Normandy cammo’ example, I wonder if that isn’t brick-red primer showing through the worn surface coat..

    Both fine examples, whatever their story..

    Or the green paint discoloured to brown by heating on an 'Esbit' stove .....
