The inside looks to be in original untouched condition. These photos are not clear enough to really assess the originality of the paint on the exterior which looks very one dimensional which is not what you want, but that could be down to the poor quality of the photos. Hi res closeups such as the one below are what is required. What does the date 1919 refer to?

Date 1919 refers to it being found discarded in 1919. Taking the photos indoors under fluorescent lighting makes it look dull, try daylight photos but I think it's a nice find.

Just to add to what BC said, the label mentions that it was found in Pfirt, Elsass (Ferrette, Alsace) in the Spring of that year.

Not really seeing anything here that proves either way. Could be good but these photos aren’t showing what’s under the “camo”. Can we see original feldgrau under the camo? Is there any rust bleed? Does the interior patina match the outside? Come of the things you might want to see. Can’t tell because the interior shots are clearer and it looks good while the outside is blurred when enlarged.

Thanks for the additional photo. That’s much better and the level of detail you would want to see in order to properly assess the paint. Also shows how different the colours can look from one photo to the other but it would be good to see more photos though. The paint does show considerable age and it looks to match the patina of the inside quite closely. The black paint around the vent lug looks like it hasn’t been done by hand due to it being so perfectly round which is unusual but doesn’t rule the camo it in or out as far as being done during the war or just after as a lot were. Having said that the paint and colours are more German than doughboy in appearance. It’s a Bell manufactured shell.
