Opinions on M16 Camo
Looking at another Camo Helmet on CL again. Right now I only have the pictures from the CL listing but I have requested larger ones from the seller. The pictures are not great but I was wondering if you guys could take a look at these and try and tell if this is the real deal or not. This one looks better than the last one I posted, more beat up and I believe the helmet is an M16, but I'm not positive. Also would you have any idea what that thing sticking out of it might be?
Thanks I appreciate it.

Re: Opinions on M16 Camo
Alec...the photos are too bad to form an opinion, better images are needed....what ever is sticking out of the air vent lug should not be there !
Prost ! Steve.

Re: Opinions on M16 Camo
Alec, much better photographs.....IMO original helmet and paintwork, the regulations concerning the painting issued in August 1918 made clear that three colours were to be used, seperated by a finger width black line, as the wearers of the helmet were to paint their own helmets no two are the same, and a certain poetic artistic licence prevailed....no more bizarre than other cammo helmet ! the only bizarre thing about it is the rod sticking out of the vent lug....this would never have been done at the time ! air vents did "whistle" the wearer usually filled them with mud to stop this annoying trait ! Prost ! Steve.
