God, i wish my opa didn't use his WWI and WWII helmets as paint buckets..... He said the chinstrap was great for holding while painting.....

It dose have the Training band on his helmet, so it could be post war (1919-1925).
Actually it looks more like a breadbag strap to me, but I can be wrong of course...

I agree with Eric. Morris's photo is a Weimar soldier. His collar Litzen are too long for WWI and the shoulder straps have rounded ends, again not a normal WWI feature.
