My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

A nice variation of the more regular style of ersatz Pickelhaubes. Only saw my first fibreglass example this week!

Hello,
I'm jumping in here far too late, unfortunately. I haven't been active here for a year or more.
Sadly this is a modern era reproduction helmet made in the UK sometime in the past 30-40 years, approximately, more or less.
The helmet front plate or wappen is for Bavaria, not Wurttemburg.
No original Imperial German made Felt Ersatz Helmet exists that has leather trim around the edge of the helmet visors and body. These helmets are well known to have been made in the United Kingdom sometime in the past 30 years. Sometime in the mid-1980's era to early 1990's era.
The chinstrap is quite clearly a reproduction as well, including the brass adjustment buckles.
It's sad to see that someone was fooled by this and shelled out 650 Pounds Sterling for a modern made helmet.
Best Wishes,
Alan
Good information to have - thanks Alan. There was a Prussian pressed felt Ersatz pickheauble that had oil cloth edging that’s not dissimilar to the trim on this fake, so perhaps they modelled it off one of those.
