    Hi everyone,

Fresh from the Isonzo front. (I didn't dug it up) A relic 1917 K.u.k. Ersatz bayonet with scabbard made for the Mannlicher M1895. Just cleaned it up and oiled it. I always thought this strange looking bayonet should be in my collection. I hope you like it. Unfortunately there are no markings left.

    Cheers Paul

Yes when MRD 15mm this should be ersatz M1895 bayonet. The designation 1917 is wrong, these bayonets appeared already early 1915.

Thanks for the correction. It shows I'm not a bayonet guy but more a helmet guy. Early as 1915, great!! Do you why these were already produced like this so early in the war?

Easy way, they lost too much material in fights with Serbians and Russians in late 1914, so the ersatz bayonets were produced in smaller workshops, dont need any armory. Similar by germans ASG88/98 were produced since early 1915, prior enough production capacity could be increased by normall modells.

This mark is a cipher, ("chefron"), not a scratch !
